Pete came into our lives as a 2 1/2 year old rescue dog. Shortly thereafter we started noticing unusual and aggressive behavior towards humans and other dogs. I felt uneasy and just didn't trust him. I tried to "figure him out", but when he bit our neighbor I knew something had to be done. I had two children and was not willing to take chances with an aggressive dog.
Sabrina came recommended and I called her to ask if there was hope for Pete. She quickly diagnosed Pete as an "alpha" and encouraged us to begin training. She was upfront about the amount of time and effort it would require to successfully train Pete. It would be no easy task and seemed daunting, but I agreed to follow Sabrina's plan as she trained me to train Pete.
There were many hurdles and victories in the following months and in the end, the training not only changed Pete's behavior, but his entire personality. He not only follows commands, but strives to gain approval. He wants to obey and get the positive attention that comes with his good behavior. We never dreamed of bringing Pete in the house. He now spends time inside and has truly become part of our "pack." I am finally in charge of my dog instead of my dog being in charge of me.
Today Pete is a loving and obedient member of our family. I can truly say that I trust him in all public situations both on AND off leash. I am proud to take him out and regularly receive compliments on how well he obeys.
